

I'm not sure why Funke changed her tune, but between the first and second books of the Inkheart triology, you are moved from childhood to adulthood. It's not going to move any further for me.

Thankfully I think the first book can stand alone. Contrary to the first book, this book clearly sets you up for the third in the trilogy. I was feeling so desperate over the situation that I did something I have never done before - I skipped to the end to read the last three pages!!! I just wanted to know that there was a happy ending. I made it to Chapter 40 (the chapters are short) and I cannot turn another page. There are few books that I have ever given up on - and this is one of them. It leaves you feeling irritated for the wasted time. Scarlett on the heals of Gone With the Wind. I thought it was creative, imaginative and great! However, Inkspell is like. I have had this book sitting on my bookshelf for an eternity, waiting to read it. Chronicles of Narnia Reading Challenge (74).
